Claims circulating on social media regarding a viral video depicting the October 2025 robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris have been debunked. The clip, which was shared on Threads on October 23, 2025, does not feature genuine CCTV footage. Discrepancies revealed that the setting in the video does not correspond to the specific gallery where the robbery occurred. Additionally, reports indicated that at least one robber wore a yellow vest, while the figures in the video were dressed in orange vests.

The video was geotagged to the Louvre and initially posted on TikTok on October 22, 2025, but was deleted shortly after the incident. A press release from the French Ministry of Culture confirmed that thieves entered the Apollo Gallery, stealing eight items, of which one was later recovered. Claims about variations in the gallery’s appearance in the video were substantiated by comparisons to images and descriptions from the Louvre’s website, highlighting distinctions in wall decoration and flooring.

Furthermore, the behavior of the individuals depicted in the video raised skepticism, as they seemed to only damage protective glass without taking any valuables.
