Battlefield’s free battle royale mode is available now

EA has announced the launch of Battlefield Redsec, a free-to-play battle royale game described as being rooted in the iconic elements of the Battlefield franchise. The game is now available for players to download and play.

Battlefield Redsec features the largest map in the series’ history, called Fort Lyndon, and allows up to 100 players to compete against one another. Players will explore the map for loot while utilizing the franchise’s signature gameplay elements to engage in combat against enemy squads. This iteration introduces a feature known as Tactical Destruction, which is intended to enhance strategic gameplay by allowing players to modify the environment for offensive advantages. The matches are designed to deliver a visually striking experience.

Additionally, EA has published an article on its website that offers more detailed insights into Redsec, including gameplay mechanics such as character classes, match flow, weapon upgrades, and in-game missions.

Redsec includes a new gameplay mode called “Gauntlet,” where eight teams of four players each compete in a series of round-based missions. These rounds allow squads a limited window of five minutes to accomplish specific objectives, structured in a tournament-style format.

In conjunction with this release, EA has also initiated the first phase of Battlefield 6’s Season 1 content. This update features a new map, a 4v4 multiplayer mode, and a new vehicle. Future updates are planned for November and December to introduce additional maps and modes, including a winter-themed redesign of the Empire State map.
