DJI has recently introduced its latest product, the Romo robovac, in Europe after its initial launch in China earlier this summer. This robot vacuum and mop features a transparent design, setting it apart from traditional models, but it does not have flying capabilities. Instead, it emphasizes advanced navigation, leveraging DJI’s experience from its drone technology.
The Romo was showcased at the IFA trade show in September, where attendees could observe its hardware components. The product comes in three variants: the fully transparent Romo P, starting at €1,899 (approximately $2,200); the Romo A, which combines a transparent robot with an opaque base at €1,599 (around $1,700); and the Romo S, priced at €1,299 (around $1,500). All models are currently available for purchase in Europe.
Notably, the three versions share similar specifications, with the primary difference being the aesthetic appeal of the transparent components. The Romo P’s station includes additional features, justifying its higher price.
The Romo boasts improved suction power at 25,000Pa and a larger water tank compared to its competitors. It uses a combination of dual fish-eye vision sensors and advanced lidar technology for navigation, enabling millimeter-level obstacle detection, which might enhance its ability to avoid common household objects.
The self-cleaning base station features unique capabilities, including a compartment for deodorizing solution and a high-pressure jet system for cleaning mop pads. Additionally, DJI has designed the base to reduce noise, potentially addressing a common complaint associated with similar devices.
Currently, there is no announcement regarding the Romo’s launch in the U.S., but plans for further testing and a comprehensive review are underway.
