AudioKit has updated its VIRAL Synth T2x, an AUv3 synthesizer for iOS devices, a month after its initial release.
Developed by Matthew Fecher, the VIRAL Synth T2x is designed to mimic the popular Access Virus TI2. The latest update, version 1.1, is now available and brings significant performance enhancements, particularly for the AUv3 version.
One major improvement is a comprehensive overhaul of the AUv3 engine, which reportedly reduces memory usage per instance by approximately 80%. For instance, two instances that previously required around 960 MB now use about 180 MB, while three instances have been streamlined from around 1.3 GB to around 180 MB of memory use. This development allows users to operate multiple VIRAL Synth T2x instances with ease on older iPads without facing significant performance issues.
Additionally, the update includes improved support for GarageBand, enhancing session performance and reliability. Users can now switch presets more reliably while receiving MIDI input from various applications. Other updates feature better graphics for ADSR envelope controls and the option to remove the Ninja logo from the app.
The AudioKit VIRAL Synth T2x version 1.1 is available for free to existing users and is currently offered at an introductory price of $4.99, down from its standard price of $19.99.
- Why it matters:
- The reduced memory usage enables musicians with older devices to utilize more instances, potentially expanding their creative capabilities.
- Upgraded compatibility with GarageBand enhances the user experience for music production on iOS devices.
- The latest: The latest version (1.1) of the VIRAL Synth T2x was released recently and includes significant performance improvements and added features.
