North Lincolnshire Council is offering free cooking classes aimed at helping residents save money by using air fryers. Over the past year, the council has distributed thousands of air fryers to pensioners and low-income families as part of its initiative to reduce fuel bills.
Those who received an air fryer are being invited to attend workshops scheduled from October 27 to October 29. These workshops will provide practical tips and meal guides, facilitating better usage of the appliances. Each class will last approximately 45 minutes, with various time slots available during the day. Participants are required to book their places in advance.
Councillor Tim Mitchell, who is responsible for sustainability, noted that air fryers consume less energy compared to traditional ovens. He expressed that by equipping residents with both the appliances and the knowledge to use them effectively, the council aims to enable households to live more sustainably while also reducing expenses.
In addition to the cooking classes, the council plans to provide older residents with extra fuel payments, free “winter warm” packs, and low-energy appliances this winter to further help lower their bills.
