Apple’s latest iOS 26.1 beta introduces a feature that allows users to adjust the opacity of Liquid Glass elements, enhancing customization options within the operating system. This new setting enables users to choose between more transparent or frosted appearances, addressing earlier concerns about legibility that arose following the introduction of Liquid Glass at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
The updated option is now available in the iOS 26.1 developer beta launched on Monday. Users can find this setting under Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass, where they can select either “Clear” or “Tinted.” Similar features for tinting Liquid Glass have also been included in the latest developer betas for iPadOS 26.1 and macOS 26.1.
Additionally, images have been provided to illustrate the visual differences between the Clear and Tinted options, showing subtle distinctions between the two appearances.
Beyond the Liquid Glass feature, the iOS 26.1 beta offers another useful modification: the ability to disable the swipe gesture for accessing the camera from the lock screen. This change aims to prevent unauthorized photo access while keeping the device secure. Users can adjust this setting in Settings > Camera > Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera.
As Apple continues to roll out its features, it remains to be seen how these updates will impact user experience and device functionality.
