Pizza Hut UK has announced the closure of 68 restaurants and 11 delivery sites, resulting in the loss of approximately 1,210 jobs. The decision comes after DC London Pie Limited, the operator of Pizza Hut’s UK locations, appointed FTI Consulting as administrators.
In a related development, Pizza Hut’s parent company, Yum! Brands, has committed to retaining 64 restaurants in the UK, thereby saving 1,276 jobs. This move aims to maintain operational stability and provide continuity for both employees and customers.
Historically, Pizza Hut has been recognized for its family-friendly dining experience and extensive salad bar, but the company has faced challenges, having previously entered administration in January. A spokesperson for Pizza Hut UK expressed satisfaction regarding the continuation of 64 sites, emphasizing the importance of preserving customer experience and associated jobs.
Nicolas Burquier, managing director for Pizza Hut Europe and Canada, stated that the recent acquisition was designed to protect jobs wherever possible and that the immediate focus is on ensuring operational continuity at the retained locations while supporting employees through the transition.
