Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently facing a significant outage that has disrupted various online services, including Amazon, Alexa, Snapchat, and Fortnite. According to the AWS status checker, multiple services are currently experiencing operational issues, with the company investigating increased error rates and latencies primarily in the US-EAST-1 Region, although outages are also affecting services in other global regions.
Reports on platforms such as Reddit indicate that the Alexa smart assistant is non-responsive to queries and requests. Some users have also noted that pre-set routines, including alarms, are failing to function. Additionally, other platforms utilizing AWS cloud infrastructure, such as Perplexity, Airtable, Canva, and the McDonald’s app, are also reportedly impacted by this outage.
The specific cause of this disruption has not yet been established, and there is no indication of when normal service may resume. Perplexity’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, confirmed via social media that their service is currently down due to the AWS issues and stated that they are actively working to resolve the situation.
