Disney Plus will increase its subscription prices effective Tuesday, October 21st. The cost for the standalone ad-supported plan will rise from $9.99 to $11.99 per month. The ad-free Premium tier will see a price increase of $3 to $18.99 monthly, and the annual ad-free plan will be raised by $30, resulting in a new price of $189.99 for the year.
Subscribers have an opportunity to secure the current pricing before the hike. Those who sign up for a year of Disney Plus Premium before October 21st will pay $159.99 for the entire year. Similarly, new monthly subscribers can lock in rates of $15.99 for the ad-free plan and $9.99 for the ad-supported option. However, after the first billing cycle, the increased prices will automatically apply, so subscribers should be mindful of this change.
The primary distinction between the ad-supported and Premium tiers is that the Premium plan allows downloads for offline viewing and supports Dolby Atmos audio for select content. Both plans offer access to a shared catalog of movies and TV shows from various franchises, including Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Marvel. Content available to both tiers includes upcoming documentaries from filmmakers like James Cameron and Taylor Swift, as well as new series such as the second season of Andor and popular titles like Deadpool & Wolverine and Lilo & Stitch.
This price adjustment reflects a wider trend in which numerous streaming services, including Apple TV Plus and Peacock, have also recently announced price increases.
