On October 18, two British women, Jess Rowe and Miriam Payne, reached the east coast of Australia after completing a six-month journey rowing across the Pacific Ocean from Peru. The pair navigated the roughly 13,000 kilometers (8,000 miles) voyage in a boat, managing their time in two-hour shifts. They sustained themselves by fishing and growing vegetables throughout their journey.
Rowe and Payne claim to be the first all-female crew to undertake this specific route nonstop and without support. They departed from Peru in April and were welcomed by supporters upon their arrival in Cairns, Australia. Following the completion of their journey, they shared insights about their experience in an interview with the BBC.
