Developed using Meta’s LLaMA-3 architecture and featuring 7.4 billion parameters, it is designed for natural language tasks in Turkish. Unlike many large models, Kumru can operate on consumer-grade GPUs, making it accessible to organizations that may not have substantial infrastructure.

Developers assert that Kumru is not a direct competitor to existing models like ChatGPT but is intended for corporate use, particularly in sectors with stringent data privacy requirements. Currently in version 0.2.1, the model is in a testing phase and focuses on Turkish language understanding.
