Bose has announced that it will discontinue support for the cloud-based features of its SoundTouch products on February 18, 2026. After this date, users will lose access to features such as integrated music services, including Spotify and TuneIn, as well as multi-room playback. The SoundTouch app will also become non-functional, restricting control over the speakers.
Certain functionalities will remain operational, albeit without guarantees for long-term performance. Specifically, standalone SoundTouch speakers, like the SoundTouch 10, 20 Series III, and 30 Series III, may still work using Bluetooth or AUX when connected to a local source. For SoundTouch-enabled home theater systems, such as the Lifestyle 650 and SoundTouch 300 Soundbar, HDMI and optical inputs should continue to function. However, SoundTouch streaming and app control will cease.
Launched in 2013, the SoundTouch line has been partially phased out in recent years. In 2020, Bose noted on its website that it would discontinue sales of some SoundTouch products while ensuring support for the app and product software. Currently, the company cites technological advancements as a reason for ending support, stating it can no longer maintain the infrastructure required for these older models.
As part of this transition, Bose will also stop offering security updates for SoundTouch products and has indicated that there will be no replacement app or platform for these devices. Many users have expressed dissatisfaction with the discontinuation on forums like Reddit, where a thread discussing the announcement has garnered significant attention. Bose has not responded to requests for further comments regarding the situation.
