10-month-old girl develops blisters after viral infection | Vijayawada News

A 10-month-old girl from Penuganchiprolu village in NTR district developed skin blisters following a viral infection. Medical and Health Officer M Suhasini confirmed the incident and stated that the baby is currently under observation at the pediatrics ward of Vijayawada Old GGH. The girl’s parents had traveled to Khammam in Telangana for the Dasara festival and returned on October 11. During a vaccination visit, the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) noticed the blisters and recommended hospitalization, but the parents opted to see their family doctor instead.

In response to the situation, local health authorities conducted a door-to-door survey in the village on October 16 and 17, covering 250 households, and found no other cases of viral infections. On Sunday, ten medical teams were deployed for further surveys, along with the organization of a free medical camp in Penuganchiprolu. During this outreach, the DMHO advised villagers to drink boiled water and keep children isolated at home if they exhibit similar symptoms. Parents were also urged to avoid sending their children to school during any viral infection.
